A Message from Munetaka Murakami
In Support of Children with Cancer

“Wear your will. Move the world.”
I have been involved in charitable activities for many years, and I hope to expand the circle of giving together with everyone—not by myself alone.
Meeting children who bravely face childhood cancer has shown me how much strength and encouragement they give me in return.
I believe that when we share our will, we can truly move the world.

Fight together. Play together. You are not alone. Munetaka Murakami

What We Do
Building a better future for children with cancer — together with partners around the world.

JCCG works with hospitals and researchers across the globe to provide children with cancer access to better treatments.

01
Why Do We Work with the World?

Many types of childhood cancer are rare, making it difficult for any single country to collect enough data on its own. For this reason, JCCG works closely with partners around the world, pooling knowledge and resources to develop better approaches to diagnosis and treatment for children with cancer.

  • Through active participation in international research networks—such as the International BFM Study Group and collaborations with leading groups including the Children’s Oncology Group in North America—JCCG promotes global cooperative studies that would not be possible within Japan alone.
  • Currently, these collaborations include joint research on infant leukemia, leukemia associated with Down syndrome, as well as pediatric brain tumors and cancers of the liver and kidney. By working together internationally, we are advancing the development of new and more effective treatments across a wide range of childhood cancers.
  • JCCG also actively shares knowledge in both directions. Our members participate in major international scientific meetings, such as the SIOP and the American Society of Hematology, bringing the latest global insights to Japan while sharing research results from Japan with the rest of the world.

02
Research Results That Benefit the World

The results of JCCG’s research are shared with physicians and researchers around the world through publications in scientific journals, helping to improve the care of children with cancer globally.

  • Cancer Genomic Testing
Our research demonstrated that cancer genomic profiling (CGP) is useful in identifying the most appropriate treatment for each child. (November 2025)
  • Leukemia Treatment
We established treatment approaches that reduce the burden on the body while improving survival rates. (February 2025)

03
Supporting Our Partners Across Asia

JCCG works closely with partners across Asia, using online meetings and other forms of collaboration to support the improvement of local medical care. Through these efforts, we also contribute to the training and development of physicians, helping to strengthen pediatric cancer care throughout the region.

04
JCCG International Committee

A dedicated committee that supports JCCG’s international activities and helps ensure their smooth and effective implementation.
